This project transforms a previously vacant 20-meter-wide strip in the center of a 2.1-kilometer boulevard, transforming a former dumping ground for dust and construction debris into a shaded tezontle promenade that allows rainwater to infiltrate and connects more than 22,000 residents to public transit. Two rows of trees define the new pedestrian and bicycle path, while a skatepark, sports courts, and calisthenics areas are distributed along the route. The boulevard lanes were also reorganized to return space to pedestrians. The project demonstrates how a simple median can become the backbone for mobility, recreation, and water management across an entire neighborhood.
